Pregnancy Testing
While home pregnancy tests can be helpful in determining whether or not you might be pregnant, you need more. Our lab-quality urine tests will give you immediate results that you can trust. This free test will not only confirm your pregnancy, but will also inform you of your due date.

Ultrasound Exams
Limited Obstetrical Ultrasounds performed by trained medical personnel (RN’s or Sonographers), under the supervision of our licensed Medical Director, can provide a glimpse into your pregnancy. If you are at least 8 weeks pregnant, the ultrasound can confirm the viability of your pregnancy, check for fetal heartbeat, make sure the fetus is positioned properly in the uterus (not ectopic), and confirm just how far along you are (gestational age). At all times, you will receive accurate medical information, compassionate care and emotional support – so if you think you might be pregnant, schedule your appointment today for your peace of mind.

Pregnancy Symptoms
Since every person is unique, symptoms of pregnancy will vary from person to person (even an individual’s pregnancy symptoms may vary from pregnancy to pregnancy), but generally speaking, if you are experiencing these symptoms, it may be time for you to get tested!

Missed Period – This is the most common first symptom, but since many women do not have regular menstrual cycles, it is not a guarantee. When pregnant, the fertilized egg implants in the uterine wall and the body produces a hormone called HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) which stops the ovaries from releasing more eggs, causing you to miss your period.

Tender or swollen breasts – Hormonal changes may cause your breasts to become sensitive and sore, and you may begin to notice changes in size and shape. This can begin as early as week 4.

Nausea – Nausea or sensitivity to smells may occur around the 5 week mark, but could be earlier or later (remember, everyone is unique). If you are feeling nauseous or are vomiting, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are pregnant, but if you have other pregnancy symptoms, it is likely that you are pregnant and should be tested.

Fatigue – Fatigue is also common due to changes in hormone levels (progesterone), as well as lower blood pressure and/or blood sugar levels. Again, many things can cause fatigue, such as stress or overwhelming life circumstances, but in combination with these other symptoms, it is likely that you are pregnant.

Other pregnancy symptoms may also include bloating, cramping, mood swings, frequent urination, indigestion, and new food cravings.

If you are experiencing some or all of these symptoms, call First Step to make an appointment, or stop by during open hours for a free pregnancy test and consultation with our trained staff. Find out what you need to know and where to go from here,
